HMS was taking on the challenging task of consolidating multiple sites into a common data center. Because data is the fundamental core of its business, HMS also began looking for a provider to implement a disaster recovery solution deployed over geographically dispersed data center locations. In addition to offering a strong technology solution, HMS needed a longterm partner to assist the company with its data center consolidation strategy, be a proactive collaborator and deliver costeffective solutions.
HMS required a disaster recovery plan that ensured its mission-critical data would always be secure and available. To accomplish this, ViaWest designed a disaster recovery strategy with HMS that allowed the company to take advantage of ViaWest data centers across multiple states, maximizing reliability. ViaWest implemented a mirrored configuration from its production site in ViaWest’s Dallas-area data center to its new fault-tolerant data center in Las Vegas. The disaster recovery solution also spans disparate power grids to help further its overall redundancy and security.
