Executive Chair of the Board
An entrepreneur with 30 years of visionary leadership in telecommunications and IT infrastructure, Nancy Phillips is Executive Chairman of the Board of Peak 10 + ViaWest. Nancy co-founded ViaWest in 1999 and built it into a successful company with more than 600 employees, annual revenues of nearly $300 million and relationships with more than 2,000 clients.
Nancy serves on numerous boards in support of the industry, the Colorado community and the advancement of women, including the National Center for Women and Information Technology; Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network; National Cybersecurity Center; Colorado Technology Association; and Startup Colorado. She has received numerous accolades for her visionary leadership and service including most recently the inaugural Colorado Governor’s Citizenship medal for Growth and Innovation, as well as the Canadian Governor General’s Medallion in recognition of her service and support of the economic ties between Canada and the United States and her distinguished track record building technology businesses. She also has been selected as the 2016 EY Entrepreneur of the Year in Technology Services for the Mountain Desert region and has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Colorado Technology Association.
Chief Executive Officer
Christopher leads Peak 10 + ViaWest as a proven chief executive with deep expertise in the economics, delivery and operations of the data center and colocation business. Joining Peak 10 in 2016, he is responsible for managing the strategic priorities that drive profitable growth in entrepreneurial, high growth environments.
Prior to Peak 10, Christopher served as chief executive officer of Telx, a leading interconnection and data center provider based in New York City, New York. He has over 20 years of combined executive leadership experience in finance and operations, working for Daniels & Associates, BroadStreet Communications and Motient Corporation.
Christopher holds a B.S. degree in History from Dartmouth College as well as a M.B.A. degree in International Business from New York University.
Chief Operating Officer
Michael is responsible for Peak 10 + ViaWest customer operations, service delivery, construction and engineering, and data center facility operations. As part of the initial ViaWest leadership team since 1999, his leadership has guided ViaWest through multiple rounds of debt and equity financing and numerous mergers and acquisitions, including investments by Oak Hill Capital Partners in 2010 and the merger with Shaw Communications, Inc. in 2014.
Prior to joining ViaWest, Michael was an audit manager with Arthur Anderson, LLP. Currently, he serves on the advisory board for Advocate for Children (a CASA organization) and is a past board chairman.
Michael received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Colorado State University and is certified as a public accountant (inactive) in the State of Colorado.
Executive Vice President, Customer Operations
Joe is responsible for customer operations and service delivery at Peak 10 + ViaWest including the central support and technical assistance teams as well as Peak10 Advanced Client Services.
Joe joined Peak 10 in June 2013. He is responsible for driving initiatives that support a multi-faceted customer experience strategy across diverse touch points from pre-sale processes to post-sale provisioning, service delivery and on-going support for Peak 10’s growing customer base.
Joe has over 25 years’ experience of providing dynamic leadership, having held key management positions at Savvis and McDonnell Douglas (Boeing). Prior to Peak 10, he served as Senior Vice President at CA Technologies where he was responsible for alliances and consulting services.
Joe earned his BS in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University and his MBA in Finance from Southern Illinois University.
Executive Vice President, Data Center Operations
Jeff is responsible for all construction and engineering functions at Peak 10 + ViaWest. Jeff has been with Peak 10 since October of 2004 and has more than 30 years of technology and Internet management experience. He directs the overall strategy, design and management of Peak 10’s networking and information systems, as well as oversees daily technical operations for the business.
Prior to Peak 10, Jeff was co-founder and chief technology and information officer of Vobix Corporation. From 1989 to 2000 he held numerous strategic technology leadership and operational management positions with LexisNexis.
Jeff is a graduate of the Wright State University School of Engineering.
Chief Cloud Officer
Jason leads cloud and network operations, security engineering, and ViaWest professional services. Jason joined ViaWest in 2011 and has previously held the roles of CTO and vice president of product development at ViaWest.
Jason has over 25 years of experience in leadership positions in product architecture, engineering, and technical sales at both small startup companies and large Fortune 100 enterprises. Prior to joining ViaWest Jason worked for over 11 years at Sun Microsystems, where he was a distinguished engineer in network and systems, focused on cloud computing and data center architectures. He also has served as the director of cloud services engineering at VMware, and held several roles at the Mayo Clinic.
Jason was the lead author of Building N1 Grid Solutions, one of the first books highlighting the combined use of virtualization and automation. He also has several patents in networking, data center resource management, virtualization, and security.
Chief Financial Officer
Brian is responsible for all of Peak 10 + ViaWest's financial operations, including treasury, finance, and accounting, as well as legal and investor relations. He joined the executive management team at Peak 10 in August of 2000.
Prior to joining Peak 10, Brian was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for KTI, Inc., a public company which designed and operated waste recovery and recycling facilities throughout the United States. He also served as Senior Manager in the Emerging Business practice of Arthur Andersen.
Brian received a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis on accounting at Washington & Lee.
Chief Marketing Officer
Jeff leads all Peak 10 + ViaWest marketing initiatives with responsibility for strategic marketing, digital marketing, and marketing communications. He brings extensive management experience in the data center and telecommunications industry ranging from startups to global service providers.
Prior to joining ViaWest in 2015, Jeff held leadership positions at Communications Media Advisors, a boutique management consulting and investment firm; Elevation Data Centers; Zayo Colocation; and Level 3 Communications where among other responsibilities he led the European and North American colocation businesses. Before joining Level 3, Jeff was responsible for the dedicated hosting business at HostPro/Interland. Jeff is also an Adjunct Professor in the Information and Communications Technology graduate degree program at the University of Denver.
Jeff received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Dartmouth College and his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
Chief Revenue Officer
Pat is responsible for assisting the Peak 10 + ViaWest leadership team in setting the organization’s strategic growth plans, overseeing revenue growth and managing the daily operations of the sales team. Specifically, Pat leads Peak 10 + ViaWest’s sales team, and works closely with other internal teams to drive opportunities across all layers of the organization.
Prior to joining Peak 10 + ViaWest, Doherty served as president of U.S. business at OnX Enterprise Solutions, where he was responsible for driving sales growth and profit-and-loss for the U.S. market. While there, he also played a pivotal role in transitioning the legacy VAR business to a services-led model focused on hybrid IT solutions. Previously, Doherty served as the vice president of North American sales for Unisys Corporation, and was EVP of sales and chief marketing officer at Sungard Availability Services.
Pat received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Saint Joseph's University.
Executive Vice President, Sales
Jason Nance has an extensive background in the Managed IT Services, Colocation, Cloud and Disaster Recovery industry, with nearly 20 years of sales and leadership experience. He has a strong reputation of demonstrated leadership, resulting in his teams consistently exceeding company objectives, while creating solid executive customer relationships and repeat buyers.
In his previous role as Senior Vice President of Sales at SunGard Availability Services (AS), Jason was responsible for helping to create the SunGard AS sales strategy and the creation of new products and services, both of which were instrumental in SunGard AS’ expansion and growth, as well as the 2014 successful spinoff from SunGard Data Systems to be an independent $1.4B company.
Earlier in his career, Jason worked in the financial services SaaS industry, selling treasury and risk management software to the Fortune 1000. His focus on creating value in operational efficiencies, providing risk mitigation and demonstrating overall shareholder value paved the way for his later move into IT services.
Jason is a graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and lives in Dallas with his wife and 3 children.
Senior Vice President & General Counsel
Joe is responsible for legal, real estate, company documentation, and legal compliance functions for Peak 10 + ViaWest. Joe joined the ViaWest team in 2010 after assisting in the acquisition of the company by Oak Hill Capital Partners. In addition to overseeing all legal matters for the company, Joe has responsibility for all real estate transactions and provides guidance in connection with corporate development and customer transactions.
Prior to joining ViaWest, Joe spent ten years in private practice assisting clients with corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, private and public securities offerings and compliance matters, and corporate governance.
Joe received his law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Boston University.
Chief Product Officer
Mike is responsible for Peak 10 + ViaWest’s product and service strategy, research and development, and internal IT initiatives, positioning Peak 10 + ViaWest to continue its growth trajectory and delivery of innovative solutions to customers. He joined Peak 10 in 2015 as the Chief Technology Officer.
Mike has over two decades of technical leadership experience. He spent much of his career at Cisco, where he was responsible for the delivery and scaling of all cloud-based services for the suite of Cisco security platforms.
Mike graduated from the Citadel with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Senior Vice President of Human Resources
Karin leads all Human Resources operations and internal communications for Peak 10 + ViaWest.
Karin joined Peak 10 in July 2011. She is responsible for all human resources activities supporting business growth and centering on the attraction and retention of the Peak 10 team.
Prior to joining Peak 10, Karin served as the Senior Human Resources Division Manager for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems’ commercial business units. She also spent fourteen years in various human resources management positions including holding senior leadership roles with AdTran, a manufacturer of high-speed telecommunication devices and CTI-Siemens, a manufacturer of medical imaging devices.
Karin is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and is a certified senior professional in human resources (SPHR). She also holds additional professional certifications in leading organizational transition and delivering performance feedback and coaching.
